I work on many very small, experimental paintings over long periods of time in order to work out unique material and process details, on a micro level, for eventual inclusion in larger work. Once I learn how to duplicate one, and am willing to have it seen, it gets numbered. I consider each a micro view, as I am not creating “a picture”, rather a close, deep surface that has recorded subtle forces such as gravity, alchemy, and both human and nature’s presence.
