AV-Ma, unique limited edition (12), blind embossing on Rives BFK, 22” x 30” each
This series grew out of my forest walking practice. This particular series AV-Ma was developed using twigs and branches collected from Bellows Pipe Trail, in Mount Greylock State Reservation North Adams, MA.
Careful consideration began with foraging and continued through adhering and paying attention to direction, movement and negative space.
The original matrix collected from Natural Bridge State Park, also in North Adams, was intended to be inked. An ink-less run through the press, to make sure there were no sharp edges breaking through the paper, turned into an ah haa, pivotal moment to not ink the plates. Early on, soy beans were added to the plate to eliminate undercuts (see AV Forestwalk). This particular print was used as a base for earth coloring.
Both print collections, with continued, new iterations, can be viewed at JK Studio, New Haven, CT.
